Lynx Fall At Home to Austin 'Roos

1/16/2011 5:08:52 PM

Sunday January 16th proved to be a rough afternoon for the Lynx basketball team as the visiting 'Roos from Austin College took care of business.  A competitive first half left Rhodes behind by 10 going into the break, but the second half turned out to be one to forget.  The Lynx dropped their second straight at home losing 73 to 45.

Rhodes looked ready to play in the first half, defeating Austin's full court pressure without any problems, but it was poor shooting and shot selection that plagued the Lynx.  A tough nosed half left Rhodes trailing Austin 34 to 24 going to the locker rooms.

The second half was one to forget for the Lynx.  Rhodes tallied only three baskets in the half shooting 12.5% on 24 attempts.  On a positive note, the Lynx got to the free throw line 24 times and converted 19 of those opportunities.

Rhodes upperclassmen Josh Arant and Kory Kilpatrick both played with passion and a high motor tonight.  Josh finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds, including 2 steals.  Kory chipped in 11 points and 4 rebounds to go along with 2 steals.

Next weekend is an important one for the Lynx as they look to get into the win column and fight for a SCAC conference tournament spot.  Friday night Rhodes travels to Hendrix College(4-11) and finishes off the weekend on Sunday afternoon against the Majors of Millsaps College(7-8).
