The Rhodes College Women's Soccer program started the 2010 in exciting fashion, as they defeat University of the Ozarks 7-0. Junior
Ashley Ladd opened up the scoring just over 7 minutes into the contest with an assist from sophomore midfielder,
Mae Casey. Ladd would find the back of the next just over 3 minutes later, making the score 2-0 just 11 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute, senior midfielder,
Allison Price, streaked down the sideline and buried a shot into the far side netting to put the Lynx up 3-0. The flood gates opened up during the last 15 minutes of the half, as Rhodes College would pile on three more goals. Freshmen,
Maddy Esther and
Sarah DiLella, each tallied their first goals of their college careers, while junior midfielder,
Caroline Colpoys, added the other.
University of the Ozarks showed tremendous grit in the second half, playing very tenacious defense. Ozarks keeper, Morgan O'Neil, made 5 saves in the second, limiting the Lynx to only one goal. Freshmen,
Maddy Esther, would find her second tally of the game in the 81st minute to end the game 7-0.
Rhodes College moves to 1-0-0 on the year. They will face University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point on Sunday, September 5th. Stevens Point defeated Heidelberg University 1-0 in the second match of the Rhodes Classic.
