Rhodes Women Soccer faced their 4th top-25 team this season, as SCAC foe, Trinity University, came to town. Despite a very strong performance, Trinity edged out the Lynx 2-1, providing Rhodes with their first SCAC loss of the season. The first half was a back and forth contest, with both sides generating chances; however the visiting Tigers would strike first with 17 minutes left to play in the first half. Trinity would keep the 1-0 lead going into the half.
Rhodes seemed to come out a bit flat in the start of the 2nd half, and Trinity jumped at the opportunity, as junior forward, Abby Loar, found the back of the net off a corner kick. Rhodes was able to find a spark and battled back, creating some opportunistic scoring chances. Rhodes would finally get their goal in the 90th minute, as junior forward,
Ashley Ladd, found herself on a breakaway and dribbled around the Tiger goalie. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late, as Trinity was able to hold on for the remaining minute and snag the SCAC win, 2-1.
Rhodes drops to 3-5 on the year and 1-1 in SCAC play. They will host Hendrix College next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
