Visiting Trinity University topped Rhodes Men's Soccer 4-1 Sunday morning. Trinity opened up scoring halfway through the first half with a goal from Zachary Garcia, who slipped in on a breakaway and tucked the ball far post. Trinity doubled their lead ten minutes later, when freshman, Brian Hines, tapped a ball in off a corner. Rhodes had some chances, but were unable to capitalize, as they went into the half down 2-0.
Trinity was able to extend their lead to 3-0, when sophomore forward, Alan Castillejos, headed home a long throw in. Rhodes was able to pull one back, as senior, Eric Stradley, drew a penalty kick. Senior midfielder, Brett Simek, roofed the penalty kick, making the game 3-1. However, Trinity answered shortly after, as midfielder Nima Naderi bent in a corner kick to the far post, putting Trinity back up 4-1, which would remain true until the final whistle.
Rhodes drops to 3-3-3 on the year and 0-2 in SCAC play. Rhodes hosts SCAC opponent, Hendrix College, next Saturday at 3:00 pm.
