The Rhodes Lynx were in action again tonight, December 7th, against the Rust College Bearcats in Holly Springs, MS. It was a disappointing outcome for the Lynx, as they fell victim to the Bearcats in a 76 - 67 decision. A 31o 6 Bearcat run that spanned nine minutes between the first and second halves was too much for the Lynx to overcome.
After a difficult weekend of conference play, the Lynx looked like they were ready to play taking a 37 - 36 lead into halftime. Sophomore post player Theo Hartwell brought great energy off the bench scoring 8 points, connecting on all four of his field goal attempts.
As the second half continued, it looked as though fatigue caught up to the Lynx men. After Rust College finished the first half on an 8 - 0 run, they came back with a 23 - 6 run to open up the first seven minutes of the second half. With 13:18 remaining in the game, the Lynx were trailing 57 - 42.
With solid defense the Lynx put together one last gasp, after back to back three point field goals by Freshman Johnny Dunavant, the lead was cut to 8 points with 1:54 remaining. However, it was not to be for the Lynx tonight, as they would not get any closer.
