Women's Soccer celebrated Senior Day on the campus of Rhodes College. Seniors Katherine Bandoroff, Alice Hilgart, Allison Price, and Carol Wicker were honored.
Unfortunately the celebration was short-lived, as Birmingham-Southern jumped on the board in the 30th minute off a header from Alicia Plotky. The rest of the first half was back and forth, with both teams getting opportunities on goal; however the score remained 1-0 at half.
Mistakes and poor finishing would doom the Lynx in the second half. The Lynx started off strong in the second half, with senior Alice Hilgart getting a great look at goal, but the ball just went over the crossbar. A minute later, a Lynx misclear would result in a goal for BSC, putting them up 2-0. Rhodes would continue to battle, and gained the momentum creating several opportunites, including 2 breakaways and a header that hit the post. Unfortunately, the Lynx could not find the back of the net, and BSC would put the game out of reach with 12 minutes remaining in regulation with a goal from Linda Amaya.
The loss drops Rhodes to 7-9 on the season and 5-4 in SCAC play. The Lynx will travel to Austin College next Friday for their last SCAC game.
