Men's Soccer came out strong in the first half against Oglethorpe, riding the momentum from the big SCAC-rival game victory against Sewanee on Friday night. In the 15th minute, junior midfielder, Michael Rubin, picked off a pass and slipped in sophomore, Petar Radujkovich, who buried the shot, giving Rhodes the 1-0 lead. Just over three minutes later, Radujkovich was able to beat his defender down the sideline. Radujkovich found junior forward, Will Wurster, streaking across the top of the box, who laid it off to a trailing Rubin. Rubin calmly tucked the ball far post, side netting to give the Lynx the 2-0 lead going into half.
The second half would be a tale of two stories. Oglethorpe came out fighting, creating multiple chances in the final third. They would eventually pull one back in the 61st minute to make the score 2-1. The Lynx seemed to compose themselves, gaining back some of the attack, but only for a short while. Oglethorpe would net the tying goal in the 78th minute. The dagger would come in the 88th minute, as Steven Bott headed home the game winner off a free kick to give the Stormy Petrels the 3-2 win.
The loss drops Rhodes to 5-7-3 on the year and 2-5 in SCAC play. The Lynx are home against Millsaps College on Friday, October 29th for Homecoming Weekend.
