The Lynx returned to action this weekend traveling to Birmingham Southern College to compete in this weekend's SCAC Central-East Divisional. The team faced off against Centre College and Hendrix College on Day 1 of competition.
The team found themselves down two sets to none to Centre, before battling back to beat the Colonels in a five set thriller. After dropping the first two sets 15-25 and 22-25, the Lynx fought hard to win the third set 25-23. After being down 0-5 in set number four, the Lynx roared back to win set four 25-22. Centre had no answer for the Lynx attack, as the team dominated set five winning by the score of 15-5.
Outside Hitters Claire Warren and Meagan Mansfield combined for 29 kills and 31 digs. Senior Libero Kayla McCrury led the team with 33 digs and 3 service aces while Middle Blocker Bethany Gunn led the Lynx with 4 blocks.
In the final match of the day, the Lynx faced off against the Warriors of Hendrix College. Rhodes dropped the first set 23-25 before sweeping the next three sets by the scores of 27-25, 25-20 and 25-18.
Freshman Right Side Lexie Krall added 11 kills and 6 blocks, while Middle Blockers Bethany Gunn and Stephanie Renner combined for 15 kills and 8 blocks. Freshmen Defensive Specialist Jacalyn Barens had 5 of the team's 12 service aces in the match. Finally, Libero Kayla McCrury turned in another 30 dig performance on the day.
The team returns to action tomorrow morning against Oglethorpe University before facing DePauw University in the team's final match up of the weekend.
