Men's Soccer Wins First SCAC Game

Rhodes Men's Soccer got their first SCAC win of the 2010 campaign, by defeating Hendrix College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.  Rhodes came out ready to play, earning 2 corners in the first 4 minutes of play.  The second corner found its way to the back of the net, as freshman defender, Patrick Harris, bent the ball directly in the goal off the corner kick.  Hendrix battled back, and created some opportunities of their own.  Hendrix would knot the score up 1-1 on a header by sophomore, Conner Silvestre, off of a free kick just outside the box with around 15 minutes left in the half.  Rhodes would have an answer, however, as sophomore midfielder, Petar Radujkovich, struck home a poorly cleared ball off a corner kick from about 20 yards out, giving the Lynx a 2-1 advantage heading into the half.

The Lynx controlled the possession more in the second half, creating several opportunities; however the Warriors would get their opportunity to equalize 15 minutes into the half after being rewarded with a questionable penalty kick.  Senior goalkeeper, Justin Stradley, stepped up to the challenge, making the penalty save, and keeping Rhodes ahead, 2-1, which proved true until the end of regulation.

Rhodes improves to 4-3-3 on the year and 1-2 in SCAC play.  The Lynx will travel to SCAC opponent, DePauw University, next Friday.
