Men's Soccer splits weekend Games

The Men's Soccer team dropped a hard fought game to Birmingham Southern College Friday night 2-1.
The game was played in a downpour most of the first half which made it difficult for both teams to find any rhythm of play. Birmingham Southern scored first when Junior GK Justin Stradley made a save on a shot but could not hold on to the slick ball and the rebound went to a BSC player who put the Panthers up 1-0.  Sophomore Ilan Isaacs tied the game 15 minutes later to send the game to the halftime 1-1.  The Lynx came out strong and saw 5 chances within 8 minutes but failed to find the back of the net.  Late in the game a tumble of bodies at the edge of the box produced a Birmingham Southern penalty kick that was
scored to put BSC up 2-1. Rhodes had 2 excellent chances in the closing minutes but could get the equalizer and fell 2-1.
The team rebounded well on Sunday at Millsaps College for a decisive 2-0 win.  Playing with sunshine and warm weather for the first time in two weeks the team came out strong and scored within 3 minutes.
Senior Logan Eberly scored his third goal of the year from Junior Nick Bailey's cross. The Lynx controlled a good part of the game adding an insurance goal in the 67th minute when freshman Jim Thompson found sophomore Ilan Isaacs with a pass in the box for Isaacs second goal on the year. Junior goalkeeper Justin Stradley was credited with his second shutout on the year while making 6 saves on the day.
