The Lynx Field Hockey team clinched the SCAC Regular Season Title and the #1 seed in next weekend's conference tournament with a 2-1 win in overtime at Centre tonight.  Charlie Wagner scored both goals for Rhodes on penalty corners on assists from Lindsey Gurkovich.  The Lynx (11-4, 7-1 SCAC) play at Transylvania tomorrow at 10:30 am.

The game started off strong for Rhodes, securing a penalty corner just over a minute into play.  On the corner the Lynx were unable to get a strong shot off but were able to win a second corner opportunity.  On the second corner, Lindsey Gurkovich played the ball to the top of the circle where Charlie Wagner took a shot that found the back of the cage in a hurry.  The Lynx celebrated the early lead just two minutes into the game.

Both team battled back and forth through the first half until Centre tied the game on a goal by Jessica McLean midway through the half.  A scoreless second half led to 7 aside overtime, which ended just 4 minutes in on a second goal by Wagner that mirrored the first one.  After winning a penalty corner, Gurkovich played the ball to Wagner who scored on a straight shot to end the game.

Centre out shot Rhodes 13-6 while the Lynx held a 11-9 advantage in penalty corners.  Meghan Cullen had 7 saves in goal and earned the win for Rhodes.  Kristen Lee, Sara Sanders, and Libby Jones also had outstanding performances on the day.  The win clinched the SCAC Regular Season Field Hockey Title for the Lynx who will head into next weekend's conference tournament as the #1 seed.  Rhodes (11-4, 7-1 SCAC) will face off against the winner of Hendrix and Sewanee Saturday at 11 am in Conway, AR.
