Lynx defeat Sewanee 2-1

10/25/2009 3:46:22 PM

The game started off slow for Rhodes with Caroline Carlin scoring for Sewanee on the Tigers' first shot of the game just 4 minutes into play.  Rhodes rebounded with Chelsea McLeod scoring on an assist from Charlie Wagner in the 22nd minute of play.  Charlie followed the assist with a goal of her own shortly before halftime.  Wagner's goal would prove to be the game winner and was all the Lynx needed to pick up their 10th win of the season and their 6th conference victory.  Kristen Lee stepped in to play sweeper for an injured Rachel Webb and helped to limit the Tigers to 3 shots on the day.  Sara Sanders had a strong showing defensively as well.  Lindsey Gurkovich helped to drive the attack drawing several corners in both halves of play.  The Lynx out shot the Tigers 7-3 and held a 11-6 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.  Rhodes (10-4, 6-1 SCAC) will travel to Centre for a Friday night match up (10/30, 7 pm) to determine the winner of the regular season conference title.  The Lynx will follow that game with a 10:30 am affair at Transylvania Saturday morning.
