The Men's Soccer Team played their first game of the weekend Friday night in the stadium at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex, but they were unable to hold off the Colonels of Centre College (10-3-2). Centre started the scoring off fairly early, and the players went into half time with a score of Centre 1, Rhodes 0. The second half looked promising for the Lynx, but a second goal for the Colonels early in the second half made it difficult for the men to fight back. The final score was 3-1, with Michael Pappas scoring a late goal on a pass from Logan Eberly to put the Cats on the board.
Justin Stradley played all 90 minutes in net for Rhodes, tallying 3 saves.
On Sunday, the men were back on their home field to play DePauw University (7-4-1). Both teams played very well, and Rhodes was putting a lot of pressure on the Tigers' defense. Zac Berry started off the scoring with an assist from
Eric Stradley to take an early 1-0 lead, but Beau Sorg responded just minutes later to tie the game at 1. Just before halftime,
Petar Radujkovic put away a ball from
Jim Thompson to go up a goal, but they were unable to hold onto the 2-1 halftime lead. Two quick goals by DePauw in the early part of the second half proved to be just enough to overtake the Lynx, and the final score was 3-2 DePauw.
William Lay played all 90 minutes in net for the Lynx, coming up with some huge saves to keep the men in the game.
