Women's Soccer Wins Over Southwestern, 1-0

9/21/2008 5:43:38 PM

The Rhodes Women's Soccer team continued their winning ways, defeating Southwestern University by a score of 1-0 on Sunday.  Molly Buss' game winning goal was assisted by Jessie Cassidy in the 40th minute.  The 15th ranked Lynx are now 6-1-1 in 2008 and are 2-0 in SCAC play.

The Lynx high pressure in the first half led to several good scoring opportunities before senior forward Jessie Cassidy won a ball from a Southwestern central defender and broke toward the Pirates goal; instead of shooting she slotted a pass  to fellow forward and classmate Molly Buss who knocked the ball into the Southwestern net.  The goal was Buss' second goal of the season, both being game winners.

Goalkeepers Becca Clarin and Stephanie Sermonet shared the shut out which is the Lynx' 5th of the season and 3rd straight, the previous two coming over #9 Emory University and #22 Trinity University.
