Memphis, Tennessee ~ Rhodes College couldn't find the winning way tonight, as they fell to the Kangaroos of Austin College 70-61. Cory Smith (Bartlett, TN) led the way for the Lynx with 23 points. The Lynx were able to take slim leads in each half only to see a run by Austin take it away. Rhodes took a 25-24 with just under 7 minutes to play in the first half, but Austin answered with a 10-0 run over the next 5 minutes and went into halftime leading 35-29. It was more of the same in the second half. The Lynx would battle back only to have Austin go on a run to extend the lead. Rhodes tied the game at 50-50 with 9 minutes remaining, but Austin scored the next 8 points and Rhodes was unable to bounce back.
On the night, junior Cory Smith led the Lynx in scoring with 23 points. Senior Justin Long (Little Rock, AR) was the only other player to notch double digit points with 10, and he also led the Lynx in rebounding with 9 boards.
Rhodes is back in action on Sunday afternoon with a 2pm tipoff against SCAC foe Colorado College. It will be the first ever matchup between the two teams.
