SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Lynx track and field team hit the West Coast and took a group of 18 athletes out to the Bay Area, where they competed in the San Francisco State Distance Carnival hosted by San Francisco State University on April 3-4.
It was an incredibly productive trip for the Lynx, as many all-time or season bests were earned.
On the women's side, freshman
Brianna Hardeman had a monster meet, first setting a new Rhodes school record in the long jump with a leap of 5.61 meters (18-5.00), a new personal best of 12.46 in the 100 meter dash, and neared her PR in the 200 with a time of 25.90. Fellow long jumper
Chelsea Temple also set an all-time best with a jump of 5.08 m (16-08).
For the distance crew, sophomore
Kendall Reed had a two second season best in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:18.15 while freshman
Abby Watkins ran strong in the 1500 with an all-time best of 4:57.14 In the final event of the day, the women's 4 X 400 meter relay consisting of
Sadie Yanckello,
Kendall Reed,
Alice Fugate, and
Chelsea Temple won the event in a time of 3:56.16.
