Women's XC Place Second at Regionals to Punch Ticket to Nationals

KERNSTOWN, Va. - The Rhodes College women's cross country team punched their ticket to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships with a second place finish at the DIII South/Southeast Regional Championship at Kernstown Battlefield. 

Emory University would win the even with 35 points followed closely by the Lynx with 106 points. Washington and Lee University placed third with 121 points followed by Trinity University with 136 points. Chirstopher Newport University rounded out the top five with 146 points.

Leading the pack for the Lynx was senior Brittany Alexander, finishing the 6k course with a time of 22:53.4 and a 12th place finish. Sophomore Ashley Litoff placed 14th with a time of 22:58.6 followed by freshman Megan Jackson with a time of 23:24.2. Sophomore Reagan Alley (23:33.3), junior Kendall Reed (23:34.5), and sophomore Abby Watkins (23:45.9) placed 28th, 29th, and 30th with Alley and Reed rounding out the scoring. Junior Hannah Henderson also ran with a time of 24:25.4.

For the women, it is their first appearance as a team in the NCAA Championships since 2011. The Lynx will head to Lake Breeze in Winneconne, Wis. for Nationals on November 21st. Check rhodeslynx.com for more information throughout the week on the upcoming event.
