Rhodes Softball used a couple of big innings to notch 2 more wins this evening in Cocoa Beach, and improved to 16-4 on the season.  In a 12-4 win over Delaware Valley, Rhodes scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th to blow open a 6-4 game and cruise to a mercy-rule win.  In game 2, Rhodes trailed Mt. Ida 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th, but put up 9 runs in the 5th for another 12-4 mercy-rule win.

Rebekah Moore led the way against Delaware Valley, going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, while Sara Bowen picked up the win in the circle.  She gave up 4 runs on 7 hits while striking out 8 hitters in 6 innings of work, improving to 6-2 on the season.

Allison Conn went 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI to lead the Lynx against Mt. Ida, with her home run capping off the 9-run 5th that ended the game.  Cindy Bitters pitched 4 2/3 strong innings in her 4th start of the season, but left the game in the 5th with the Lynx trailing 4-3 and did not pick up the win.  After allowing a leadoff double, she did not allow another hit until the 5th, when Mt. Ida picked up a pair of 2-out singles and went on to score 3 unearned runs.  Chelsea Peters came in and notched the final out of the 5th inning on 3 pitches and earned her 8th victory of the season.

Rhodes takes Tuesday off and returns to action Wednesday morning at 9am and 1pm, before returning to Memphis for their SCAC opener against #24 Depauw on Saturday.
