Josh Clark was hired and began as an assistant coach for the Rhodes Cross Country and Track and Field teams on August 1, 2017. Clark, a Michigan native, and stellar student-athlete for Washington University in St. Louis, will be in charge of mid-distance runners for the track programs along with extensive work with the cross country teams.Â
Clark was a chemical engineering major and environmental engineering minor at WashU. He was a member of SAACÂ and captain of both programs during his junior and senior seasons. After graduation from WashU, Clark worked as an Environmental Scientist at AECOM in St. Louis while he also volunteered for his alma-mater last year. Last year WashU's women's claimed both the indoor and outdoor NCAA DIIIÂ National Titles.
Clark is a four-time All-American. He placed 21st at the 2014 Cross Country Nationals, seventh in the 2015 Outdoor Track Nationals in the 1500m run, fifth in the distance medley relay at Indoor Nationals in 2015 and was the 2016 DMR Champion at Indoor Nationals his senior season. He was named 2015 University Athletic Association Cross Country Runner of the Year, and became the third men's runner in WashU history to earn All-America honors in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field in the same year (2014-15).
Clark decided he wanted to transition more into coaching which led him to Memphis.
