Sammy Wroblewski was hired as the Rhodes College assistant softball coach in July of 2018, making this her first year with the Lynx.
“It was Sam’s unique collegiate experience that separated her from the pool of very strong applicants, said head coach Luke Wagner. "Having been a recruited student athlete at Brandeis University, an excellent academic institution (sharing many similarities with Rhodes), Sam personally understands the demands our Lynx student athletes face.”
Wroblewski spent two years at Brandeis, helping her team earn the ECAC DIII New England title where she struck out 84 batters in 120.1 innings during her sophomore season after receiving a medical hardship waiver her freshman year.
In addition to her tremendous success at the Division III level, Sam’s desire to return to a warmer spring climate saw her complete her playing career at Division II Francis Marion University (FMU) in South Carolina. “In Sammy we found a perfect fit for our program. She experienced the rigor of a highly selective Division III program, as well as the pace of softball being played in the south.”
Wroblewski graduated from FMU where she ranked second in the Peach Belt Conference in fewest walks per seven innings. In 2017, Wroblewski went 10-6 in the circle with a 2.99 ERA, walking only 19 batters in 93.2 innings. In 2016, the Florida native earned 17 wins on 28 starts and held a 2.12 ERA. She tossed a no-hitter against Mercy (NY) on Feb. 21, 2016 after fanning seven batters in the Patriots' 5-0 seven-inning victory.
The right hander was an assistant coach for Plantation Pressure in Florida from 2015-17 where she organized offensive and defensive practices. A pitching coach in West Palm Beach, Fla. since 2012, Wroblewski has organized private and group lessons upwards of 25 clients. She also assisted the Florida Powers 18 Gold team for a year, not only in the circle and through practice and game organization, but also aiding players during the recruiting process.
“Sam will assist in all phases of the program but will focus the majority of her efforts continuing to develop what we feel to be a very talented pitching staff," commented Wagner.
Last year Wroblewski earned her Master's Degree in Business Administration from FMU, completing her collegiate softball career.
