Lynx Sweep Series Against Lyon College

The Rhodes College Softball team traveled to Batesville, Arkansas for a short 2-game series against Lyon College. The Lynx played well across all phases of the game and were able to secure 2 wins.

Game 1:

Rhodes got off to a hot start in game 1 as 6 different players recorded an RBI in the contest. Jasmyn Stanley went 2-4 and led the team in RBI's with 3. Katie Bejian also went 2-4 and recorded a pair of RBI's. Other top performers from game 1 include Athena Gonzales (2-4, RBI, SB), Kate Ledlie (2-4, RBI, SB), and Campbell Smith (2-4). These batters combined to put 10 runs on the board and secure the game 1 victory by a final score of 10-5. Gina Dudley pitched all 7.0 innings for the Lynx. The ace struckout 7 batters and only allowed 4 earned runs.

Game 2:

Game 2 was a similar story as the Lynx scored 10 runs in back-to-back games. Harper Allee-Press shined as she went a perfect 4-4 with a triple, a stolen base, and 2 RBI's. Kate Ledlie also went 4-4 and recorded 5 RBI's in the game, accounting for half of all the runs scored by the Lynx. Another player to highlight is Katie Bejian who had another great game in which she went 2-3 and drove in 1. Emily Pertuit and Taylor Petty split the game on the mound pitching 3.0 innings each. Pertuit allowed just 1 run before turning the ball over to Petty in the top of the 4th. Petty went on to shutout Lyon College in the final 3 frames of the game, completing the sweep for the Lynx.

The Rhodes Softball team moves to 7-11 on the season as they get set to begin conference play next weekend. They will open on the road in Jackson, Mississippi for a 3 game set against the Millsaps Majors.
