Rhodes Athletics Weekend Preview (April 5-7)

Friday

Men's Lacrosse
The Lynx Lax team enters the weekend with an overall record of 7-5 and an SAA record of 1-1. They will travel to Danville, KY, to face off against Centre College at 6 pm Friday. In their last matchup, the Colonels edged out the Lynx 14-13.
    Drew Downs still leads the Lynx in goals scored this season with 45. The Lynx team has caused 419 ground balls compared to their opponents' 305 this season. 
    Scouting report: The Colonels are 9-3 this season and 2-1 in conference play. Both teams have lost to Berry College. 


Saturday

Men's Tennis
    The tennis team is 6-4 and traveling to Georgia this weekend for two conference matches. The team will play Berry College at 9 am on Saturday to kick off the weekend.
    Last week's SAA athlete of the week was senior Daniel Trudel for his outstanding singles performance against Hendrix College.
Scouting report: The Vikings are 10-4 this season and 1-0 in SAA matchups, winning their match against Oglethorpe.  

Women's Tennis
    The Lynx are 5-4 as they head into a weekend of away matches in Georgia. Their first conference match of the season will be against Berry College at 11 am a.m. on Saturday. 
    The teams' last matches were 3-1 over spring break, and they are coming off a three-match win streak. 
    Scouting report: The Berry Viking's overall record is 5-5 this season, with one conference win on their resume.  

Track and Field 
    The Men's and Women's Track and Field teams will travel to Harding University this weekend to compete in the Harding Invitational. The Field events will begin Saturday at 11 am, and the running events will start at 4 pm. 
    DII and DIII teams across the mid-south will be at the meet, with many impressive competitors. 

Women's Lacrosse
    The Lynx enter the weekend after a huge win, improving their record to 6-4 and 3-0 in SAA matchups. For their next SAA game, the Lynx will host Oglethorpe on Mason Field at noon on Saturday. 
    Last week, Emma Norris was awarded the SAA Athlete of the Week award for her excellent defense during critical conference matchups.  
    Scouting report: The Petrels' overall record is 10-4 and 1-2 in conference matchups, and they are coming off a two-game win streak. 

Baseball
    The Lynx are set to travel to Berry College this weekend for their series against the Vikings beginning on Saturday. The Lynx will start game play at 1 pm, followed by a 4 pm game. Heading into this weekend, the Lynx are 17-9 and 8-4 in the SAA. 
    Ben Burkhart is 3rd in the SAA with his batting average of .427 and 47 hits this season. The Lynx team currently sits first in the SAA.  
    Scouting report: The Vikings overall record is 21-9 with an SAA record of 7-5.

Softball
    The Lynx are 14-17-1 as they head into another weekend SAA series. The team will travel to Conway, AR, to play against Hendrix College. The series' first two games will be played at 3 pm and 5 pm Saturday. 
    The team currently sits 2nd in the SAA rankings, following Berry College. Talia Travis leads the SAA in number of hits this season with 40. 
    Scouting report: The Warriors are 5-19 this season, losing nine times in conference matchups.

Men's Golf
    The Men's Golf team is set to host the Rhodes Spring Invitational this weekend at the Mirimichi Golf Course in Collierville, TN. The tournament will be played during the day on Sunday and Monday. 
 
Men's Tennis 
    The team enters the weekend with an overall record of 6-4. They will play two conference matches, the second beginning at 9 am Sunday against the Oglethorpe University Petrels. 
    Last week's SAA athlete of the week was senior Daniel Trudel for his outstanding singles performance against Hendrix College. 
    Scouting report: The Petrels are 6-4 this spring season, falling in their conference matchup against Berry College.

The Lynx Lax team enters the weekend with an overall record of 7-5 with an SAA record of 1-1. The team will travel to The University of the South on Sunday and will face off at noon. In their last matchup which ended the Lynx run for the SAA title last season, the Tigers defeated the Lynx 10-7.

    Scouting report: The Tigers' current record is 8-3 overall with an undefeated 3-0 SAA record. They defeated Berry College, whom the Lynx lost to in one of their most recent competitions.
