The Rhodes Men's and Women's Track and Field teams demonstrated their unwavering spirit and resilience at the Washington University at St. Louis Invitational this weekend. They fearlessly competed against some of the best D-III schools, showcasing their determination to excel. The competition kicked off on Friday night with the challenging distance carnival's 5k and 10k races and the hammer throw. The rest of the competition unfolded on Saturday.

The men's distance crew, led by Austin Rhea, Daniel Blaich, and Diego Donald, delivered outstanding performances in the 5K during the Friday night distance carnival. Austin Rhea, in his first collegiate 5k race, set a new personal best (13.37.47), while Daniel Blaich (15:52.0) and Diego Donald (16:00.58) also shone. Justin Davis, a force to be reckoned with in sprints and jumps, achieved a personal best in the 100m dash (11.14) and clinched first place in the long jump with a leap of 7.08. Bryce Tuchner, a rising star in hurdles, set two personal bests, running 15.78 in the 110 high hurdles and 58.84 in the 400m hurdles. Liam Conroy's javelin toss of 47.11m earned him a respectable 4th place. 

Senior Grace Scowden led the sprints on the women's side, racing a personal best in the 100m dash at 12.67. In the 400 m dash, three Lynx had great performances. Thora Pearson finished 8th, racing 58.65. Olivia Clarke and Isabel Farnsworth ran 1:01.84 and 1:02.90, respectively. In the 800 m race, Ellie Spears ran 2:27.04, followed by Siena Collier, running 2:28.47. The 4x4 for the Lynx ran a season-best of 4:06.44. The team comprised Olivia Clarke, Isabel Farnsworth, Thora Pearson, and Ellie Spears. 

Four Lynx had great 5000m races, including Britanny Ziemer (18:59.71), Abby MacLean (19:16.42), Riley Imbornone (19.35.22), and Hannah Jane Miller (19.20.79). The Lynx were led in the field by Kym Young, who finished 5th in the high jump(1.50m) and 6th in the discus throw (35.54). Evan Duet finished 2nd in the javelin with a season-best toss of 35.54m. 

The Lynx featured many personal and season bests this weekend as they gear up for the peak of their season. They will compete again next Saturday, April 6th, at the Harding Invitational.
