Rhodes Athletics Weekend Preview (February 21-25)
This past weekend was our home opening weekend for many of our spring athletic teams. Baseball went 3-0 on the last weekend. Softball went 2-3-1. Men's Lacrosse went 1-1. Women's Lacrosse fell in their season opener. Men's and Women's Tennis both won their matches. The Men's and Women's Basketball teams advanced to the next round of the SAA Playoff Tournament.

Women's Tennis
    Today, the Women's Tennis team will face off against the Hendrix College Warriors in their first SAA matchup at Rhodes College. The Lynx are 0-1 coming into the match and will begin play at 3 pm.
    The team holds many talented players, returning half of the SAA runners-up roster last season. 
    Scouting report: The Warriors are 1-3 coming into their match against the Lynx.

Baseball
    The Lynx head into their second weekend at home with an overall record of 4-1 after a dominant weekend of ball at Stauffer Field. The Lynx will face off against Franklin College on Friday at 2:00 pm.
    The bats for the Lynx went to work last weekend, crushing Greenville in two 10-run rule games. The team's batting average is .329. The Lynx limited themselves to 3 errors the entire weekend. 
    Scouting report: Franklin College will play their first game of the season against the Lynx this weekend. Their record last season finished 33-13.

Track and Field
The Men's and Women's Track and Field Team will travel to Danville, KY, to compete in the inaugural SAA Indoor Conference Championship Meet. 
    The team features many athletes hoping to compete for an SAA title.  
    Scouting report: Berry College and Centre College are the biggest threats to the Lynx bringing home the SAA title.

Men's Lacrosse
    The Men's Lacrosse overall record is 2-1 entering their game against Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. The game will start at 11:00 am. 
    Drew Downes leads in goals scored for the Lynx with 16 this season. As a team, the Lynx shots on goal made percentage is  .612. 
    Scouting report: Hampden-Sydney's record is 2-1 as they host Rhodes this weekend.  

Women's Lacrosse
    The Women's Lacrosse team lost their first match of the season but will have a big weekend traveling to Claremont, California, to compete against Colorado College. The game will be at 1 pm. 
    Olivia Wood had nine saves in the game last weekend. Avery Burke and Chloe Parker lead for the Lynx with three goals scored each this season. 
    Scouting report: Pomona will host their first tournament of the season this weekend. 

Track and Field 
The Men's and Women's Track and Field Team will travel to Danville, KY, to compete in the inaugural SAA Indoor Conference Championship Meet. 
    The team features many athletes hoping to compete for an SAA title.  
    Scouting report: Berry College and Centre College are the biggest threats to the Lynx bringing home the SAA title. 

Men's Basketball
    The current overall record of the Lynx is 11-15 as they travel to Mt. Berry, Georgia, for the second round of the SAA playoffs. They will tip off in the semifinals against Oglethorpe at 4 pm. This season, the Lynx have gone 1-1 with the Petrels, with the Lynx winning in the most recent matchup.
    The Lynx upset the #2 seed BSC Panthers last week with a standout performance by Zavien Williams, posting 36 points.  
    Scouting report: The overall record for the Petrels is 11-14. Perry Robinson is the 2nd leading scorer behind our very own Phil Dotson and is an Oglethorpe weapon to look out for, 

Women's Basketball
    The Women's Basketball team will travel to Jackson, MS, to face off against the #1-seeded Millsaps Majors in the second round of the SAA playoffs. Tip-off will be at 3 pm as the Lynx hope to defend their SAA Championship Title. 
    Rhodes leads the SAA in rebounds per game and hopes to come out hot offensively against the majors, coming off a big double-overtime win against Sewanee. 
    Scouting report: The Lynx have fallen to the Majors twice this season, and Millsaps's overall record is 22-4, with a home record of 14-0 this season. Haley Franklin leads the SAA in points scored per game.

    Scouting report: The North Central Cardinals begin their season in Memphis, playing their first game against Webster and facing the Lynx. 

Softball
    The Lynx will play against Mississippi University for Women this weekend on Saturday at noon, followed by a game against Austin College at 2:00 pm. The Lynx enter the weekend with an overall record of 2-7-1. 
    The team is batting an average of .330, and Emily Pertuit was a standout pitcher for the Lynx last weekend with an ERA of 2.62.  
    Scouting report: The MUW softball team's record is 5-1. Austin College's overall record for this season is 2-2.
