Box Score 3 Here's what our Lynx were up to this past weekend!
Men's Golf
The Rhodes Men's Golf hosted its' Fall Invitational at Tunica National GC, and for the 2nd time in the 23-year history of the event the Lynx came away as tournament champions in the field of 16 schools. The team had a balanced performance, with Senior Avery Stansell, Junior Billy Gussler, and Freshman John Bates all tying for 7th place at 4-over par. In the first round Gussler posted his career-low round of 5-under par 67 and Bates posted his career-low round of 2-under par 70. Senior Foster Wood posted rounds of 70-71-81 to finish tied for 13th. Head Coach Tom Campbell said, "I am really pleased with our result from this week, after having struggled in our first two tournaments. We didn't place anyone on the All-Tournament team but ended up being Team Champions, which shows the depth and balance of our roster. We're looking forward to continuing to grow as players and a team after this performance".
Men's Soccer
Men's Soccer was away this weekend, taking on Millsaps College on Friday in Jackson, MS. The Lynx won 3-0, bringing an important conference win back to Memphis. Brendan Kane scored late in the first half, and Rhys Hourmont and Pierce Miller added on goals in the second. The Lynx are now 5-1-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. This Tuesday, the Lynx travel back to Jackson to take on the Blazers of Belhaven University.
Women's Soccer
Women's Soccer had two games this weekend, on Friday against Millsaps and Sunday against Mississippi University for Women. The Lynx came home from Jackson with a 1-0 win against Millsaps and defeated Mississippi University for Women 5-0 at home on Sunday. Grace Culver scored the sole goal against Millsaps, and Maggie Wakefield also had one save. Mary Gale Godwin, Sophia Rall, Mallory Goldstein, Megan Propp, and Taylor Theofiledes scored goals in Sunday's shutout. Women's Soccer is now 5-2-1 on the season. The Lynx aim to continue winning at home next weekend as they welcome Birmingham-Southern and Fontbonne to Memphis.
Field Hockey
Field Hockey once again had an outstanding weekend, winning games against Concordia University and Marian University. On Saturday, they defeated Concordia 5-0, with two goals apiece from Grace Utz and Sophie Croci and another from Alder Dickey. On Senior Day, they defeated Marian 3-0, with goals from Sophie Croci, Ellie Pratka, and Bella Spina. Rose Martin also had two saves. The Lynx are now an impressive 7-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. Next weekend, they travel to Danville, KY, to take on Centre and Earlham.
Swimming and Diving
Swimming and Diving kicked off their season with a home meet this past Saturday. They defeated Millsaps on the Men's and Women's sides in dominant fashion. The men won 212-42, and the women won 221.5-30.5.
Football
Football traveled to San Antonio this weekend to take on the #6 team in the country, the Trinity University Tigers. Rhodes was plagued by injuries going into and during this game and ultimately fell to the Tigers 63-14. Rhodes' touchdowns came from a 6-yard pass from Evan Reeder to Brent Barlow and a 2-yard pass from Taylor Haas to Jacob Kastl. The Lynx now sit at 2-2 on the season. Next weekend, the Lynx return home to play Southwestern University for Homecoming.
Volleyball
Volleyball was away this weekend, traveling to Birmingham and Jackson to play Birmingham Southern and Millsaps. Rhodes was defeated three sets to none by Birmingham on Saturday and three sets to one by Milsaps on Sunday. Yzzi Dsamou had 21 kills, and Rachel Clarke had nine blocks on the weekend. Rhodes now sits at 5-7 on the season. Next weekend, the Lynx will travel to Danville, KY, and Sewanee, TN, to take on Centre and Sewanee.
