Rhodes Athletics Weekend Preview (Sept. 15-17)

The Lynx are back in action this weekend with another packed schedule! This includes six home games (five on-campus and one off-campus event) and four away games. On Friday, home games start with Men's Soccer and Field Hockey at 4 p.m. and Women's Volleyball is away. On Saturday, the football team has their first conference home game at noon vs. Centre College. Following the football game, Field Hockey will play at 4 p.m. in their first conference home game as well. Cross-Country will be hosting the Rhodes Invitational at Shelby Farms Park, while Women's Soccer and Volleyball are both away. The weekend will wrap up on Sunday with Men's Soccer at home at 2:30, and Women's Soccer will be away. Come out this weekend to support your Rhodes College Lynx! 


Friday 

(Home) 

Men's Soccer  

Mens Soccer is hosting the Rhodes Classic tournament this weekend at the Rhodes Soccer field. Their first game of the tournament is at 4 p.m. on Friday against Stockton University. This is the first matchup between the Lynx and the Ospreys. The Lynx are currently 4-0-1 on the season and are looking to continue their win streak on Friday afternoon. 


Field Hockey 

On Friday at 4 p.m. Field Hockey has a match against Wittenberg University, which will take place on Mason Field. The Lynx are 4-1 in previous matchups against the Tigers, with the most recent being in 2022 where the Lynx won 5-2.

Volleyball 

Women's Volleyball is away on Friday and will be traveling to Arkansas. The Lynx will face off against the Hendrix College Warriors at 6 p.m. The Lynx are 11-21 in previous matchups against the Warriors and are looking to add to their win column on Friday. This is the first SAA conference matchup for the Lynx this year.  


Saturday 

(Home) 

Football 

Football is at home again this Saturday for their second home game of the season. Play begins at noon on Crain Field against the Centre College Colonels. The Lynx are currently 2-0 on the season and 2-13 in previous matchups against the Colonels. The Lynx will look to bounce back from their previous loss to the Colonels in 2022 in their first conference game on Saturday afternoon.  


Field Hockey 

Saturday at 4 p.m. the Lynx will face off against the Sewanee Tigers on Mason Field. This is the first conference matchup for the Lynx this season and the third home game. The Lynx are an impressive 30-1 in previous matchups with the Tigers and have not lost a game against them since 2008.  


Cross Country 

This Saturday is the Rhodes Invitational for the Cross-Country teams. The meet will take place at Shelby Farms Park here in Memphis and is the second meet of the season for both the men's and women's teams. The men start at 8 a.m. and the women start at 8:45 a.m.

Volleyball 

The Lynx will face off against Lyon College for the second time this season at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Arkansas. The Lynx are 2-0 in previous matchups against the Scots and are looking to add to their win column Saturday afternoon.  


Women's Soccer 

Women's Soccer is away this weekend in St. Louis, where they will be playing the Depauw University Tigers at 3 p.m. The Lynx are 4-1-2 in previous matchups with the Tigers and are currently 3-0-1 on the season. 


Sunday 

(Home) 

Men's Soccer 

At 2:30 pm on Sunday, Men's Soccer is set to match up against the McMurry University War Hawks. The Lynx are 2-0 in previous matchups against the War Hawks and are looking to continue that streak Sunday afternoon. The Lynx are currently 4-0-1 on the season. 


(Away) 

Women's Soccer 

Women's Soccer will match up against the Washington University Bears in St. Louis. Play starts at 1 p.m. against the Bears and is the second game of the weekend for the Lynx. The Lynx are 0-7 in previous matchups with the Bears and are looking to secure their first win against them on Sunday.
