Box Score 4 The Lynx were busy this this weekend with seven home game and four away games. Here are the recaps for each team!
Volleyball Â
Rhodes welcomed Lyon College, Austin College, Bethel University, and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to Memphis this weekend for the annual Rhodes College Classic. The Lynx competed in four games this weekend, two on Friday and two on Saturday. The Lynx finished with a 2-2 record this weekend, bringing them to an even .500 on the season at 4-4. On Friday, the Lynx defeated Lyon 3 sets to 1 and dropped to Mary Hardin-Baylor 0 sets to 3. On Saturday, we lost to Austin 3 sets to 1 and finished the tournament strong by defeating Bethel 3 sets to none.
Kym Young led the weekend on the offensive side, with a total of 32 kills. Defensively,
Maggie Mathis led the way with 47 Digs total on the weekend. After a solid start to the season, Rhodes hopes to open conference play strong this Friday, September 15th, as they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to take on the Hendrix College Warriors. Â

Men's Soccer Â
The Men's Soccer teams hit the road in Missouri this weekend, playing Webster University in St. Louis on Friday and Westminster College in Fulton on Sunday. The Lynx came out of this road trip 2-0, defeating Webster 1-0 and Westminster 2-0. These wins bring the Lynx to 3-0-1 on the season. Goal scorers of the weekend included
Max McLarty,
Pierce Miller, and
Dawson Ullrich. Goalkeeper
Nate Slota totaled six saves on the weekend, earning him SAA Athlete of the Week honors. Next weekend, the Lynx host McMurry and Stockton to Memphis to play in the Rhodes Classic. Â

Women's SoccerÂ
Our Women's Soccer teams hosted two games this weekend, Greenville University on Saturday and University of Ozarks on Sunday. The Lynx finished 1-0-1 on the weekend, tying Greenville 1-1 and defeating Ozarks 3-1, bringing their season total to 3-0-1.
Megan Propp scored three goals this weekend, and
Sophia Rall scored 1.
Grace Culver assisted
Megan Propp on one goal. Next weekend, Saturday 16th, the Lynx travel to St. Louis to take on Depauw University at Washington University. Â

Field Hockey Â
This weekend, our Field Hockey team traveled to Sewanee and played Ohio Wesleyan University and Depauw University. The Lynx lost to Ohio Wesleyan 1-3, with
Alder Dickey scoring the lone Lynx goal. On Sunday, The Lynx defeated Depauw 6-1, with three goals from
Sophie Croci and goals from
Alder Dickey,
Bella Spina, and
Sheela Vasan.
Sophie Croci received SAA Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance this weekend. This Friday, September 15th, the Lynx welcome Wittenberg University to Memphis, looking to improve to 4-1 on the season. Â

Football Â
The Rhodes College Lynx hosted a thriller versus Austin College this past weekend, eventually securing the victory 19-17. The Lynx started slowly, allowing Austin to go 14-7 before halftime.
Elijah Bane scored early in the first quarter on a 6-yard touchdown run, with
Coleman Clay converting the extra point. The Lynx came out with a new spark in the second half, holding strong on defense and scoring again as the 3rd quarter expired with a Touchdown pass from
Houston Wilhelm to
Andrew Pickens. In a clutch moment on 4th down with 1:14 left,
Houston Wilhelm again converted a 16-yard touchdown pass to Trey Hampton in the back of the endzone to put the Lynx up 19 -17. The Lynx Defense held firm on the final Austin drive and ended the game on top following a clutch sack from
Thomas Conroy and a final tackle by
Hart Penfield.
Houston Wilhelm led the game passing with 253 yards and 2 TDs.
Elijah Bane led the Lynx in rushing and receiving, with 37 rushing yards and 63 receiving yards. On Defense,
Evan Byrd,
Jason Kusibab, and
Thomas Conroy had nine tackles.
Thomas Conroy also had two sacks and 2 Tackles for loss.
Minh Giang had two tackles for loss and a sack, and
Lawrence Watts reeled in an interception. This coming Saturday, September 16th, Rhodes continues their home stand as they welcome the Centre College Colonels, hoping to improve to 3-0 on the season. Â
