Box Score Senior forward Alexys Mathangani (Tampa, FL) led all scorers with 26 points as Rhodes defeated Millsaps 72-62 in the SAA semifinals played on the campus of Centre College Saturday, February 25th in Danville, KY.
Mathangani scored 12 first half points and the Lynx defense forced 10 first half turnovers leading to a 35-33 halftime advantage. Rhodes continued to win the turnover battle as the Lynx extender their lead to 58-52 after three quarters. For the game Rhodes scored 18 points off of 17 Millsaps turnovers.
Freshman guard Avery Marsh (Little Rock, AR) had another stellar day to balance the Lynx offense. Marsh scored 15 points and connected on 3 of 8 three-point field goals for the game. Marsh also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.
First year forward Giana Vlahakos (Houston, TX) contributed 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to provide a spark off the bench. Freshman forward Taylor Dupree (Lakeland, TN) added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks as the Lynx held on in the 4th quarter to record their 16th win of the season.
The Lynx are advancing to their 5th consecutive SAA title game against regular season champion Centre College, tomorrow at 2 pm EST. The Colonels won an exciting 65-59 overtime game against 4th seeded Berry College to advance to the finals.
The Lynx split the regular season series with the Colonels, most recently defeating Centre 53-43 in Mallory Gymnasium, on February 3rd.
