Box Score This past weekend, Rhodes football traveled to Little Rock to take on Hendrix College in a nightcap under the lights at War Memorial Stadium. This matchup was an important conference game for both teams, with Rhodes hoping to continue a three-game winning streak and Hendrix hoping to break a two-game losing streak, both of exactly one-point losses.

Both teams struck quickly and scored twice in the first quarter. Evan Reeder threw two long touchdown passes to Brent Barlow and Umikoa Kealoha, and Barrett Buchanan converted both extra points. At the end of the first, Hendrix led 15-14.

In the second quarter, the high-powered offenses continued. Kealoha reeled in another touchdown catch, this time from quarterback Houston Wilhelm. An interception from Jake Duncan also set up Reeder for another touchdown, this time with his legs, on a 14-yard run on the first offensive play after the interception. The Warriors still had a slight edge heading to halftime, 29-27.

The Lynx struck first after halftime, with Austin Smith catching a 41-yard touchdown from Reeder. Hendrix scored again to retake the lead, but then the Lynx regained the lead early in the 4th from yet another touchdown catch from Kealoha and a 2-point conversion catch from John Hampton. Hendrix then scored twice in a row to take the late lead 50-43. The Lynx had three and a half minutes for a final drive, in which they could tie with a touchdown and extra point or win with a touchdown and two-point conversion.

The Lynx scored the touchdown with a Houston Wilhelm 17-yard pass to Brent Barlow but could not convert the two-point attempt. The Warriors walked out of this thriller in War Memorial with the victory, 50-49.

The strong offensive day for the Lynx saw impressive stats for both quarterbacks, with Wilhelm posting 202 yards with 3 touchdowns and Reeder posting 159 and 3. On the receiving end, Kealoha and Barlow were over 100 yards on the day, with 102 and 101, respectively. Kealoha had 3 touchdowns, and Barlow had 2. Austin Smith also posted 59 yards and a touchdown. Robert Daniel once again led the Lynx in rushing with 73 yards.

Defensively, Evan Byrd led the team in tackles with 11. Jonathan Torres and Lawrence Watts both had 9. Jake Duncan recorded an interception and 4 tackles, one being for loss. Both Minh Giang and Cole Shaver recorded sacks.

This loss was a tough one to swallow for the Lynx, but they have another opportunity to return to the win column when Birmingham Southern comes to Memphis this weekend. The Lynx take on the Panthers this Saturday at 1 p.m. in the last home game of the season, celebrated with Senior Day activities.
