Lynx Recap September 29th-October 1st


Volleyball

Lynx Volleyball was on the road this weekend, traveling to Danville to play Centre and Sewanee to take on Sewanee. The Lynx went 0-2 on the weekend, falling to 5-9 on the season. Kym Young had 17 kills on the weekend, and Mackenzie Geer had 42 assists. This weekend, the Lynx welcome Berry College and Oglethorpe University to Memphis.

Field Hockey

Field Hockey had a split record in Danville this weekend, losing 0-1 to Centre but defeating Earlham 9-1. Against Earlham, Alder Dickey had four goals, Bella Spina and Sophie Croci had two each, and Elinor West added one. Rhodes goalie Catherine Gluodenis also had four saves against Earlham. The Lynx are now 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. This weekend, the Lynx travel to Fredericksburg, VA, to take on the University of Mary Washington and Christopher Newport University.

Women's Soccer

Rhodes women's Soccer had two games in Memphis this weekend, taking victories in both. On Saturday, the Lynx defeated Birmingham Southern 8-0. On Sunday, the Lynx defeated Fontbonne University 2-0. Six different Lynx scored on Saturday, including Mary Gale Godwin, Reese Owens, Sophia Rall, Tania Weyland, Taylor Theofiledes, and Grace Culver. Against Fontbonne, Megan Propp scored both goals for the Lynx. The Lynx are now 7-2-1 on the season and will hit the road this weekend to play at Sewanee on Friday and at Centre in Danville on Sunday.

Football

This Saturday, Rhodes Football welcomed the Pirates of Southwestern University to Crain Field for a long-awaited homecoming game. The Lynx were dominant and ended homecoming with a 31-7 victory. Rhodes started hot with a 64-yard Touchdown from Evan Reeder to Robert Daniel and never looked back. Evan Reeder also threw touchdowns to Conner Abshier and Austin Smith, and Robert Daniel ran for another 9-yard score. Myles Kruger also hit a 36-yard field goal and was 2/3 on extra points. Reeder passed for an impressive 301 yards, and Robert Daniel ran for 104. With this win, the Lynx improved to 3-2 on the season and will travel to Jackson, MS, this weekend to take on the Majors of Millsaps.

Men's Soccer

Men's Soccer took on Birmingham Southern in a big homecoming game this weekend. Rhodes went up 2-0 quickly in the first half, with both goals from Ben Novello. Max McLarty added another goal in the second half, and the Lynx secured the homecoming victory 3-1. The Lynx now stand at an impressive 7-1-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. They continue conference play this coming weekend, as they travel to Sewanee on Friday and Centre on Sunday.
