Lynx Earn Conference Win Against Majors

Rhodes defeated Millsaps 6-2 on Sunday afternoon

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 27, 2022) - The Rhodes Lynx earned interim head coach Rebecca Arbino her first career home win with a 6-2 victory over the Millsaps Majors on Sunday. The win moves Rhodes to 9-15 (1-8 SAA) on the season.

Game three of the series started off quickly as Delta Newman and Andie Priest were engaged in a pitcher's duel, with both pitchers tossing scoreless frames for the first three innings. After Priest put down the Majors in order in the fourth she finally received some offensive support. With one out, Hannah Schweiger doubled, and was followed by a Madison Granberry single and a Katelyn Siekerka walk to load the bases. A pop up put pressure on Hannah Grace Roden to make something happen with two outs, and she did just that. Roden ripped a single to right field, scoring Schweiger and Granberry to make it 2-0 Lynx.

Millsaps broke through in the top of the fifth, and tied the game with a groundballl RBI and a bases loaded walk. It was all Lynx from there on out. In the bottom of the fifth, Granberry drove in Lauren Little with a single. Rhodes then added three runs in the sixth thanks to a pair of errors from the Majors, and a Nikki Greuel sac fly to make the final score of 6-2.

Schweiger and GRanberry had two hits each to lead the offense. Beth Fleming earned the win in the circle, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

Next up for the Lynx is a three-game set against Hendrix at home. Two games will be played on Saturday, April 2 on the campus of Rhodes. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm
