The George Lapides Sportsmanship Award is given each year to a senior male and a senior female student-athlete who best exemplifies the highest level of sportsmanship to his/her team. Dedication, teamwork, and loyalty are the characteristics of every George Lapides Award recipient. Nominees should impact their team both on the field and off the field. Specific examples of sportsmanship and character must be cited in the nomination.

The Rebecca Rish Gay and Walter E Gay Awards were established in 1997 in honor of the parents of Mrs. Libby Daughdrill, wife of past President James Daughdrill. The Rebecca Rish Gay Award honors the outstanding senior female athlete of the year, while the Walter E. Gay Award honors the outstanding senior male athlete of the year. These are Rhodes’ top Athletic Awards based on Athletic accomplishments over their multi year career at Rhodes. Nominees should demonstrate athletic success within the team, Conference, Regionally and/or Nationally. Nominees will be considered for their athletic accomplishments first and foremost. Secondary criteria for consideration will include academic area of studies, GPA, academic awards and extracurricular and volunteer service.

Walter E. Gay Award Winner: Paul Giacomazzi - Baseball

The Seidman Trophy is presented to a senior male and a senior female student athlete who exhibit excellence both in the classroom and on the athletic field. Candidates nominated for the award, will have Academic and Athletic accomplishments equally considered. Academic success must be demonstrated by area of study, GPA, academic awards, research, volunteer service, internships and/or study abroad. Athletic success should be measured within the team, Conference, Regionally and/or Nationally.
