Four Lynx have earned Southern Athletic Association weekly honors as announced by the conference Monday, February 24, 2020.
Sophomore
Baylee Barker (Offensive) and junior
Hannah Swinerton (Defensive) swept women's lacrosse honors against two top-20 ranked teams while senior
James Margraff was named the men's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. And in baseball, junior
Jacob Dubs was named the SAA Pitcher of the Week after starting against No. 18 Coe College.
Baylee Barker
Barker averaged 4.5 goals per game against two ranked teams this weekend as Rhodes was edged 9-8 by No. 15/17 Colorado College before the Lynx defeated No. 20 Illinois Wesleyan 12-11. The attacker, who specializes in the draw, earned 13 draw controls, nine goals, seven ground balls, caused three turnovers and tallied an assist on the weekend. She scored four goals against Colorado College and six points against the Titans. With a two-goal halftime deficit, Barker guided the Lynx offense to a comeback victory over IWU, netting four of her five goals in the second half. The sophomore tied the game 10-10 with 12 minutes left before she netted the game-winner to push the Lynx to three consecutive goals.
Hannah Swinerton
Swinerton was crucial for the Lynx defense in their battle against No. 15/17 Colorado College. The junior contained All-American Tiger Eva King to just one goal. In the upset win over No. 20 Illinois Wesleyan, Swinerton scooped up four ground balls and added two caused turnovers. Against two ranked teams this week as the Lynx went 1-1, falling by just one goal, the defender tallied five ground balls and three caused turnovers while only turning the ball over twice. Swinerton's speed in transition helped the Lynx average .690 in clear attempts. The Lynx are now 2-1 on the year.
James Margraff
Margraff anchored a Lynx defense which limited Transylvania to seven goals Saturday. The long stick middie-turned defender tallied two ground balls and a caused turnover which limited the Pioneers to only one goal in each of the first, third and fourth quarters. The Lynx defeated Transy 18-7 and are now 3-0 on the season.
Jacob Dubs
Dubs, a junior right-handed pitcher from Greensboro, N.C. continued his scoreless inning streak this weekend throwing five scoreless innings vs. #18 Coe College. He has now thrown 11 straight scoreless innings. Dubs went into the fifth inning with a no-hitter and only gave up two hits while striking out 11 en route to a Lynx 1-0 walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Lynx have now won seven straight games to improve to 7-2 on the season.
