Montgomery, Ala. - The Rhodes College Lynx bats were hot in the opening game of the double-header as they went on to defeat the Louisiana College Wildcats 12-2. In game two, the Lynx comeback effort in the final inning was halted as they fell 5-1 to Huntingdon College.
Game One
Both teams were scoreless through the first three innings of the ballgame. Louisiana College struck first, in the bottom of the fourth, when they strung together a few hits to plate three runs. The Lynx answered back in the following frame when Lauren King singled up to the middle to bring home Anna Kula. Rhodes wasn't done their as Hannah Grace Roden grounded out which was enough to score Peyton Clark to extend the Lynx lead to 2-1. The Lynx piled home five runs in the sixth inning as they hit safely three times and took advantage of a few fielder choices (7-1). The final inning was a big one for Rhodes, five hits was enough to also plate five base runners, which gave us the final score of the game 12-2.
Clark and King finished the contest with three base knocks a piece. Jenna Roulan, Kula, and Roden also recorded multi-hit games. King and Roden also tallied multi RBIs as well.
Game Two
Huntingdon got on the board early as a single brought home the first run, in the first inning, of the ball game (1-0). They extended their lead, in the third, when three singles, two doubles, and a throwing error brought in four more runs (5-0). In the final frame, Clark walked with the bases juiced to bring home Shannon Tierney to put the Lynx on the board. With the bases loaded and two outs the Hawks were able to stop the comeback effort in its tracks and pull away with the 5-1 victory.
Lauren Little and Clark recorded two base hits in the contest. Clark tallied the lone RBI for the Lynx as well.Â
The Lynx copycat their schedule on Sun., Feb. 16th as they take on Louisiana College and Huntingdon College in a double-header. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
