DANVILLE, Ky. - The Rhodes College softball team went into Sunday's matchup with Centre looking to try and avoid a three-game Southern Athletic Association sweep, but could not hold the early lead as they fell to the Colonels, 9-2.
The Lynx struck for runs in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 advantage, but Centre scored one in the second and three in the fourth to take a 4-2 advantage. They moved their lead to 9-2 with two more runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Rhodes could not respond as they eventually dropped the finale and suffered their second conference sweep of the season.

Kirsten Samuels finished 2-for-3 on the day with a run scored while freshman
Kendall Henry went 1-for-3 with a RBI and a walk. Junior
Christine Hume was 1-for-4 with a run scored while senior

Caroline Sutton all had a hit.
Freshman
Bri Maniscalco (8-4) took the loss for Rhodes, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits. Sophomore
Caroline Reilly pitched the remaining 2.1 innings, allowing four runs off six hits.
Rhodes moves to 16-7 on the year and 3-6 in SAA play. They will go back on the road on Tuesday as they battle Westminster (Mo.) in a doubleheader beginning at 2 PM.
