MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College Athletics Department welcomed the newest members to the Hall of Fame on Friday, October 28th, in front of a full house at the Hall of Fame Luncheon.

Four Lynx became the newest inductees in Mike Clary, Rosemary Boner Schapira, Demetri Patikas, and Ted Davis.

Mike Clary '77 - Entering his 38th season at Rhodes College, Mike Clary has been a integral key to the Lynx Athletic Department. Clary graduated from Rhodes in 1977 where he competed in football and golf, leading the men's golf team to the Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in 1977. Shortly after graduation, Clary would join the Rhodes staff.

Clary served as head football coach from 1984-96 and is the all-time winningest coach in Rhodes football history. From 1985-90, the Lynx compiled a 43-9-3 record, which ranked Rhodes in the top ten in NCAA Division III in winning percentage and as the winningest college football program in Tennessee. Coach Clary's teams won two College Athletic Conference championships and one Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship, and the 1988 team participated in the NCAA Division III national playoffs.

Clary was named Athletic Director in 1991 and proceeded to make numerous marks on the department. During his time, the number of student-athletes competing in varsity athletics tripled. Rhodes also consistently ranked among conference leaders in the number of athletes earning Academic Honor Roll, while ranking at the top of the conference in overall athletic success. Rhodes captured the 1991-92 SCAC President's Trophy and the 2014-15 SAA President's Trophy.

Despite his retirement as Athletic Director, Clary remains the head coach of women's golf and most recently won his second national championship in May. The Lynx also captured to 2014 national championship, the first NCAA team championship in school history. Clary also served as head coach for the track and field team from 1980-90, winning a CAC title in 1990, as well as the swimming and diving coach from 2003-05.

Rosemary Boner Schapira '03 - Quite simply, one of the greatest defensive women's basketball players in school history, Rosemary Schapira, formerly Rosemary Boner, is listed throughout the record book for the many accomplishments she earned throughout her playing career.

The winner of 2002-03 Rebecca Rish Award for top female athlete at Rhodes College, Schapira was a two-time SCAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2001-02 and 2002-03. In 02-03, Schapira was outstanding, leading the Lynx in four different categories; assists, steals, rebounds, and field goal percentage, as she was a first team All-SCAC selection.

When it was all said and done, Schapira rewrote both the Rhodes and SCAC record book on the defensive side of the ball, leading in career steals with 390 from 1999-03. Schapira is also the all-time Lynx leader in single season steals with 121 and is the SCAC leader in steals/game for a season at 5.04. She finished 5th in the nation that season.

In Rhodes history, Schapira holds the single season game record for steals in a game with 10 (2/9/03 vs. Rose-Hulman), is third all-time in assists (385), and finished in the top 10 in rebounds with 516, the most ever by a point guard.

In a conference that produced two national champions including the 2002-03 National Champs, Rhodes finished third in the conference behind the excellent and historic play of Schapira.

Demetri Patikas '93 - Demetri Patikas was a two sport athlete at Rhodes College, competing with the track and field program as well as a wide receiver for the Lynx football team.

On the gridiron, Patikas was an All-CAC wide receiver both his junior and senior seasons. Standing at 6'3", Patikas gave defenses nightmares with his great hands, leading the Lynx in receptions his senior season with 47.

In 1992, Patikas was a terrific all-around athlete with the Lynx track and field program. His throw of 189'9" was second in school history at the time and still remains in the top 10 today.

Ted Davis '89 - Ted Davis was a men's basketball standout for legendary Hall of Fame Coach Herb Hilgeman. Hilgeman described Ted as a great athlete, teammate and player and one of his favorite players to coach at Rhodes in 34 years.

Davis has also been an alumnae who has provided exemplary service to the Lynx Athletics Department the last 27 years. He has served on numerous athletic committees, spoken to numerous Lynx sports teams and athletes, and has been involved directly with the entire department for over three decades of service.

The former Lynx greats will be honored on October 28th at the Rhodes College Athletics Hall of Fame luncheon on Homecoming Weekend.
