MEMPHIS, Tn.- The Lynx suffered a 4-2 loss on Saturday against the visiting Lions from Lindenwood University (DII). An early push from Rhodes wasn't enough to earn the victory, with Lindenwood getting on the board early in the first half. In what proved to be a physical 70 minutes, the Lynx were unable to stop the tenacious Lindenwood offense.
Despite a strong effort, Rhodes found themselves down 2-0 midway through the first half. After several close opportunities the Lynx capitalized on a corner play that tipped off the stick of senior
Katie Faucher. The helper on that play was from
Kat Simpson, currently leading the team with five assists. Rhodes closed the scoring gap 2-1 at halftime, the result of a well-played first half.
After the break, Lindenwood wasted little time getting their third tally on a Kristi O'Connor goal. The Lions peppered Rhodes goalkeeper
Jordan Robinson in the second half, forcing her to make nine saves on six shots. Rhodes challenged the Lindenwood defensive line-up with ten penalty corners and eight shots throughout the game. Rhodes scored their final goal on beautifully executed breakaway to goal by sophomore
Kat Simpson. The goal was unassisted and her second of the season.
Rhodes returns to action tomorrow with an 11:00 am home match against Sewanee.
