Stephanie Mingos closed with a final round 76 (+3 on a par 73 course) to finish in a tie for 5th in the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at the Mission Inn and Resort in Howey in the Hills, Florida. Starting the final round 7 strokes off the lead, Stephanie shot an ever par 37 on the first nine, which included two birdie's. She closed with a 39 on the second nine to shoot 76, the 2nd best score of the final round.
"Stephanie played a beautiful final 18. She played with Jessica Urban from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, who shot 77 in the final round to capture the individual title for the tournament," said Coach Clary. "What a thrill it was for myself and Stephanie's gallery (Nancy Clary,
Nicole Jones, Kristina Mingos and Preston Poole) to watch her final round. It was awesome as she closed the gap on the leaders."
Stephanie's 5th place tie in the 2010 tournament follows her 12th place finish in 2009 and 5th place finish in 2008. "Stephanie has established herself as one of the top players in the country. Considering she didn't swing a golf club for 3 1/2 months in the fall due to a severe back injury, her return to top form this spring and to challenge for the NCAA title was outstanding," said Coach Clary.
