On a windy, tough El Campeon golf course at the Mission Inn Resort, Stephanie Mingos shot a 79 and stands three strokes off the lead after the 1st round of the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament.   Paige Caldwell (Methodist University) and Natalie Matuszak (St. Mary's, IN) share the first round lead with a 1st round score of 76.

"Stephanie is in great position after the 1st round.  She really hit the ball well today and she had great looks at 6-7 birdie putts, but only managed to get one in the hole," said Lynx coach Mike Clary.  "
Stephanie is a very good putter, so if she can continue to give herself some great looks at the cup, she's going to make her share."

Stephanie had a great following today with Nicole Jones acting as Rhodes official media specialist.  Her Mom and Dad, Maria and Steve Mingos, as well as her sister, Kristina, were in the gallery cheering her on.  Coach Clary's wife, Nancy, is also spending the week at the Mission Inn.
