The final GOLF WORLD/NIKE COACHES POLL for the Fall Season was released and shows our Rhodes Men's Golf Team ranked #10. “We got off to great start this year winning our first tournament, the Transylvania Fall Invitational, finishing tied for 3rd at our Rhodes College Collegiate Classic, and 3rd at the Birmingham-Southern Shootout” said coach Bill Cochran.
“The highlight of our Fall Season was certainly our WIN at Transylvania. However, we also had some exciting moments when we were tied for the lead with Huntingdon College after the second round of the Birmingham- Southern Shootout, and we went head- to –head with at that time the #1 ranked team in the country in that final round.”
“Our team was actually ranked #2 in the country after our fast start, which is certainly the highest national ranking ever achieved by a Rhodes golf team. In the 2006-2007 Golf Season, Rhodes ended the year ranked #4 in the country after winning the SCAC Conference Championship and finishing 6th in the NCAA Championship”. “I think we have a chance to do something special this Spring Season if we can just play together as a team.” commented Coach Cochran. “We have a lot of firepower on this team, and when we all play good at the same time, it good get exciting!”
