After two weeks of rain and dreary conditions there was a break in the clouds on Saturday at Shelby Farms. With the new course having been beaten up by continuous rain and three high school races beforehand, the women's team used their home field advantage and raced to the win at the Rhodes Invitational. The women scored an impressive 25 points in a field consisting of Division I, II, and III competition.
The women's team showed great front running with first and second place finishes by sophomore
Taylor Stephens and senior Melissa Defabrizio. Stephens was the defending champ from last year, and was able to retain her crown with a dominating performance in 19:22. Right behind her was senior Melissa Defabrizio who has come alive this season. Having run a personal best last weekend at the Commodore Classic, Defabrizio ran another personal best of 19:38. Also finishing in the top ten was senior
Cybil Covic in fourth place and junior
Kelsey Dudziak in sixth place. Covic ran under 20 minutes for the second straight week with a time of 19:55; while Dudziak finished raced to a time of 20:20. Maddie Harrigan continued her impressive freshman campaign with a time of 20:56 good for twelfth overall and fifth on the team. Juniors

Sandy Henin finished 21st and 23rd overall in 21:32 and 21:43.
The Lynx will not race again until October 10th at the Gibson Family Collegiate Invitational in Terre Haute, IN. The race will feature the toughest competition yet for the Lynx as they will face Depauw and Washington University in St. Louis along with other strong Division I, II, and III programs.
