Women's Track and Field Team Competes at the Washington University Invitational

The women's team had an outstanding weekend in St. Louis at the Washington University Invitational. The weekend started off with the Distance Carnival on Friday night where Freshman Taylor Stephens provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000 meters with a time of 37:11.40.

On Saturday, the Lynx women continued to heat up the track.  Sophomore Sandy Henin won the 800 meters in a time of 2:18.71.  The short and long sprint core had a very successful day on the track with junior Kristin Forbes provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 200 meters with a time of 25.15 and won the 400 meters with a time of 58.41.  Junior Julia Goss recorded a top ten finish in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.15.  Sophomore Jessie Ormand and junior Kim Tryon recorded top ten finishes in the 100 hurdles, and sisters Rachel and Elizabeth Bernard both finished in the top ten of the 400 hurdles.  The 4x100 relay ran a solid time of 50.27 and the 4x400 relay ran a time of 4:22.04.

In the field, Kim Tryon won the pole vault with a height of 10' 10''.  Sandy Henin and junior Melissa Defabrizio placed in the top ten of the pole vault also.   Julia Goss recorded a top five finish in the long jump, and Jessie Ormand and Kim Tryon recorded top ten finishes in the triple jump. 

The Lynx women will continue the season at the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, MS on Saturday.
