Men's track and field competes at Ole Miss Invitational

The men's track and field team had another successful weekend in Oxford, MS at the Ole Miss Invitational.  The hurdlers and sprinters competed against some of the stronger sprint cores in Division I track and field and had very solid performances.  Sophomore Jon Mervine had the top performance on the men's side with a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time of 54.28 in the 400 hurdles.  Greg Palm, a sophomore, had another solid meet with the top 100  time of 11.28, and junior Josh McMurray recorded a top time of 23.05 in the 200.  Junior Greg Cook was the top Lynx finisher in the 400 with a time of 50.81.  The 4x400 relay team had another solid performance running 3:27.77 with the team of Palm, Mervine, Anson Purdy, and Cook.

Greg Cook recorded his best throw of the season and finished in the top ten of the javelin with a 168' 8" mark, and reached 42' 6.75" in the triple jump.  Sophomore Andrew Maryott recorded the farthest throw in the hammer of 141' 7", while senior Will Boehm had the best mark in the discus of 94' 5", and freshman Steven Amacher and Boehm tied for the farthest throw of 33' 4.5" in the shot put.  Freshman Alex Lippincott had a solid performance in the high jump reaching 6' 2".  Junior Jeremy Moye recorded a seaon best in the pole vault with a mark of 13' 5.25".

In the distance events, freshman Evan Nelsen won his heat of the 1500 with a new  personal best of 4:04.48.  Sophomore Chris Moore ran a 9:59.73 in his first steeple of the year, and senior Steele French led a large contingent of Lynx men in the 800 with a top time of 1:58.23.

The men's team will have one more tune up meet on April 18th at the University of Memphis before the conference championship on April 24th and 25th.
