The Rhodes baseball team defeated Denison University 10-6 this afternoon at Stauffer Field.  Rhodes jumped out to an early 4-2 lead in the second before Denison scratched back and took a 6-4 lead in the fifth.  Rhodes got one in the sixth, three in the seventh, and two in the eigth for a 10-6 victory.  Junior Max Gertz picked up the victory coming out of the pen.  Gertz is now 1-1 on the year as the Lynx improve to 11-5.

Freshman Austin Carden worked the first five innings for the Lynx giving up 9 hits, 5 earned runs, walked 3 and struck out 5.  Gertz entered the game in the top of the sixth and held Denison scoreless for the remained of the game giving up 3 hits, walking 3, and struck out 7.

Junior 2B Andy Boucher paced the Lynx offense going 2-3 with a double, 4 RBIs, and got hit by a pitch.  Senior SS J.R. Bizzell was 2-4 with double, run scored, one RBI, and got hit by a pitch.  Freshman CF Travis Perkins was 1-3 at the plate with a double, 2 runs scored, walked twice and stole a base.

Rhodes will take on Denison in the final game of the three game set at 11:00 tomorrow morning.
