Rhodes took another pair of games from Sewanee this afternoon, by scores of 14-0 and 13-0, to improve its SCAC record to 8-0, and extend their current winning streak to 18 games.  Rhodes is 21-3 on the season, the third 20-win season in the history of the program and second in the past 3 years.

With the score tied 0-0 in the second, Rhodes broke game 1 open with a 10-run second inning, highlighted by home runs from Rebekah Moore, Caroline Cooper and Elise Suna.   Moore led the inning off with her 4th home run of the season to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead.  With 2 outs and the bases loaded, Caroline Cooper belted her first career home run, a grand slam, to give the Lynx a 6-0 lead.  After singles from Allison Conn and Moore, Sara Bowen delivered an RBI single to give the Lynx a 7-0 lead.  Elise Suna then capped off the inning with a 3-run blast, her 3rd dinger of the season, giving the Lynx a 10-0 lead after 2 innings.

That proved to be more than enough runs for Chelsea Peters, who struck out 9 Tiger hitters and gave up just 3 hits, tossing the first shutout of her career and improving to 5-0 on the season.  Cooper added a 2 RBI single in the 3rd, finishing the day 2 for 3 with 6 RBI and a run scored to lead the Lynx offense.

Game 2 would go much the same for the Lynx, with Suna and Armanda Venezia belting back to back 2-out, RBI doubles to cap off a 4-run first inning and give the Lynx a 4-0 lead after a half inning of play.  Rhodes added 4 more in the 3rd, highlighted by an RBI double from Jennifer Whatley and an RBI single from Kelli Zomer, and added 5 more in the 4th to round out the scoring and give the Lynx a 13-0 lead.

Bowen tossed her 4th shuout of the season, giving up just 2 hits and striking out 12, improving to 8-1 on the season.  Venezia led the Lynx offense, going 3 for 4 with a double, 3 RBI and a run scored, while Suna was a perfect 3 for 3 with a double, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Rhodes will take its 18-game win streak to Collierville High School on Tuesday to battle cross-town rival Christian Brothers at 5pm, before welcoming the Millsaps Majors to Memphis for a 4-game SCAC series this weekend.
