The Rhodes College baseball team split a double header with Centre College this afternoon at Stauffer Field, winning the first game 14-7 before dropping the second 8-4.  Freshman Austin Carden picked up the victory in the early game to improve to 2-1 on the year as freshman Colby Mattheson fell to 1-1 on the year.  Rhodes is now 19-11 on the season.

Freshman Austin Carden worked the first five innings on his way to his second victory of the season.  Carden struck out 2 and walked one before handing the ball over the bullpen.  Sophomore Hunter Chandler worked the sixth, sophomore Matt Ungashick worked the seventh and junior Max Gertz worked the final two frames, striking out four.

The Lynx offense was led by senior 3B Mason Mosby who was 3-4 with a homerun, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs, walked once, and stole 2 bases.  Freshman CF Travis Perkins was 4-6 with 2 runs scored, 4 RBIs, and stole two bases.  Sophomore C Chris Conkell was 2-4 with a walk.  Junior 2B Andy Boucher was 2-5 with 2 runs scored.

In the second game of the double header, senior SS J.R. Bizzell was 2-4 with a RBI and run scored.  Sophomore 1B Brogan Jayne was 2-4 with 2 doubles and a RBI.  Senior 3B Mason Mosby was 1-3 with an RBI.

Rhodes will return to action at 7:00 on Friday night in Atlanta, GA against Oglethorpe University.
