Rhodes opened the 2009 softball season with a doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan College by scores of 6-0 and 7-1 Friday night in Macon.  Sophomore Cindy Bitters earned the win in the circle in game 1, striking out 9 on her way to tossing a 1-hit shutout.  Freshman Kelli Zomer was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Junior Armanda Venezia had  a pair of hits and 3 RBI, including a 2-run home run, to lead the Lynx offensively.  In Game 2, Freshman Chelsea Peters earned her first collegiate victory in the circle, retiring 15 of the last 17 Wesleyan hitters, while racking up 6 strikeouts and giving up no earned runs.  Caroline Cooper, Allison Conn, Elise Suna, and Sara Bowen each had a pair of hits to lead the Lynx offensive attack.
