Rhodes lost a 37-10 decision to SCAC leader Centre College, in Danville, KY on October 31st. Centre jumped out to a 30-10 halftime lead, capitalizing on a 58 yard fumble return for a touchdown in the 1st quarter and the Colonels returned a blocked punt 24 yards for another touchdown in the second quarter.
A 44 yard kickoff return by sophomore Jake Jackson setup the Lynx only touchdown of the day in the 1st quarter. 4 plays and 30 yards later, junior running back Matt Gilbert scored on a one yard run to cut the Centre lead to 14-7 with 8:39 remaining in the quarter.
Centre extended their lead to 21-7 on the blocked punt return with 14:37 to play in the first half. A Lucas Stockhausen 31 yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter cut the Centre lead to 30-10.
Senior defensive back Andy Boucher led all Lynx defenders with 10 tackles and junior linebacker Andrew Meier had 9 tackles, one quarterback sack and 3 tackles for loss.
Rhodes drops to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the SCAC. Centre improves to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC. The Lynx will have a bye next week and host the University of the South in the annual Orgill Cup game on November 14th at Fargason Field.
