Rhodes lost a hard fought SCAC battle to defending SCAC Champion Millsaps, 38-22 in Jackson, MS on October 17th.  The Lynx were able to control the line of scrimmage in the first half, keeping possession of the football for 22:28. However, the Lynx trailed 14-7 at the break, as two Rhodes turnovers resulted in 14 points for the Majors.
A Lynx fumble on their 2nd drive of the game gave Millsaps great field position at the Lynx 21 yard line. Two plays later the Majors scored the first touchdown of the game to take a 7-0 lead with 7:56 to play in the 1st quarter.
For the remainder of the first half it stayed 7-0 until late in the 2nd quarter. With Rhodes driving deep in Millsaps territoy, Kevin Peters stepped in front of a Brett Stoots pass and returned the interception 84 yards for a score to extend the Millsaps lead to 14-0.
Rhodes answered with a 10 play 69 yard touchdown drive and freshman quarterback Tyler Perkins capped the drive with a 9 yard touchdown run with 18 seconds remaining in the 1st half and Rhodes trailed Millsaps 14-7 at the intermission.
Millsaps struck quickly in the 2nd half scoring 10 unanswered points to extend their lead to 24-7. The Lynx 3rd turnover of the game set up the Majors third touchdown. A fumble once again resulted in excellent field position for the Majors. Millsaps converted on a three play 10 yard drive for the touchdown.
The teams traded touchdowns the remainder of the 3rd quarter. Perkins scored his 2nd touchdown of the game on a 26 yard scoring run to cut the lead to 24-14. However, Millsaps counter with a 46 yard scoring pass on the following drive to extend their lead to 31-14.
Junior running back Matt Gilbert scored the final Lynx touchdown of the day with 3:12 to play in the game and Perkins connected with sophomore wide receiver Jake Jackson for a two point conversion to make the final 38-22.
Rhodes falls to 2-5 overall and will host Austin College on Saturday, October 24th, for a 2pm homecoming SCAC game.
