Despite a slow start, the Rhodes Women's Soccer Team got goals from four different players in the second half to defeat the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels by as many goals to improve to 7-1-1 in 2008 and 3-0 in SCAC play.
After a scoreless first half the Lynx finally opened the flood gates in the 70th minute when senior midfielder
Diana Buss deflected a ball into the path of freshman forward
Julia Clapper who passed the ball into the Oglethorpe goal.
Less than one minute after Clapper's goal, the Lynx struck again when
Diana Buss flicked on a
Colleen Callaghan service to freshman forward
Laura Flink who poked the ball past an Oglethorpe defender and into the Petrel's goal.
In the 76th minute Callaghan sent another ball into the penalty area which sophomore forward
Allison Price deflected the ball into the goal.
The Lynx completed the scoring in the 79th minute when Price hit a shot that was deflected into the path of
Diana Buss who finished to give Rhodes a 4-0 victory.
Goalkeepers
Becca Clarin and
Stephanie Sermonet shared the shutout which is Rhodes' 6th of the season.
Rhodes will face The University of the South on Sunday, September 28, 2008 in Sewanee, TN at 2:30pm.
